Technology vs Simple Life

I, like millions of Americans love technology. To be more specific I love my cell phone but is there a such thing as to much technology?  I can remember back in 2004 when I purchased my first cell phone. It was meant to be something I used just to keep in contact with family. It was small, fit in my pocket, and I often forgot it existed. As the years progressed so did the technology (the cell phone). Before I knew it  I found myself wanting and craving the newest device that the market had to offer. In 2008 I was introduced to the Android and it changed my life. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. With the Android came apps and with apps came a whole new world.

Now, in 2017 the cell phone and it’s capabilities are endless. We literally use our phones for everything. From making a phone call to watching t.v. Although the cell phone and technology in general is a great thing, I do think it’s at a point where it may be taking over our lives. We rely solely on our phones  to the point where we don’t even bother to remember numbers or directions because we know Siri or Google will do it for us. Texting has become our main source of communication even when we seem to be sitting in tbe same room. Our phone have become our dictionaries, maps, cameras and so much more. The old school way of doing things seems to be completely obsolete. While I am team technology I  do often miss the simple days. By simple I mean the days when children  went outside to play instead of rushing to watch their favorite YouTube video. I miss when dinner time actually consisted of eating dinner with the family without watching t.v and surfing Facebook at the same time. I guess what I’m saying is that every now and then we should keep it simple. Let’s pick one day a week where we give technology (cell phones) a rest. Let’s spend that time having one on one conversations, teaching our kids how to jump rope, or just simply reading a book (the old fashion way of course)
Technology was created to simplify some aspects of our lives but other aspects were simple enough without it
