Bella Hadid Transitions to Acting
25 year old Bella Hadid is transitioning from the modeling world as she just landed her first role as an actress. Hadid is set to appear in the Hulu classic Ramy. The series is a comedic drama tv show that first premiered on April 19, 2019. The Series follows first-generation American Muslims who hail from New Jersey. The show focuses on the Muslim experience as well as various life challenges the characters face due to their background as a minority in American culture.
Now, it turns out she can check another achievement off the list—namely, a move into acting. According to Variety, Hadid will be joining the third season of Hulu’s comedy-drama series Ramy in an undisclosed recurring role. The show, created by and starring the comedian Ramy Youssef, centers on an Egyptian family in New Jersey navigating the challenges of being Muslim in today’s America, and has been praised for its sensitive and humorous approach to identity, picking up a number of Golden Globes and Emmys along the way. With Hadid’s outspoken pride in her Muslim heritage—her father Mohamed moved to the U.S. from Palestine at the age of 14—it couldn’t be a more perfect fit. -Vogue
Hadid was born Isabella Khair Hadid on October 9th, 1996 in Washinton, DC. her father Mohamed Hadid is a Jordanian, Palestinian native and her mother Yolanda is of Dutch decent, so the model is perfectly suited for the role as it very much embodies her personal life. Although it is unclear which role Bella will play in the series, one thing is clear is that fans are looking forward to seeing the model on the big screen.
Hadid has expressed interest in the world of film and television before, telling The Telegraph all the way back in 2017 that she was taking acting lessons because she wanted to “have more of a voice in the world.” And she wouldn’t she be the first model of her generation to make a successful transition from modeling to acting, with the likes of Cara Delevingne and Hoyeon Jung having both made similar moves in recent memory to impressive results. -Vogue
Bella has been modeling since 2012 when she was only 16 years old. She landed her first contract with the world renowned modeling agency IMG Models in August of 2014 and since then she’s walked in major runway shows like Ralph Lauren, Alexander Wang, as well as starring in various Victoria Secret campaigns. Through her modelling she propelled her career landing more and more on screen time leading up to her new role.
